What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word Timberlands?
No doubt, you think of that heavy-duty work boot that is designed for extreme working conditions.
You might also think of that classic wheat color look that nowadays has even become a fashion statement.
And you might also think of an expensive workboot.
Well in this post, we are going to take a look at 9 of my favorite work boots that look like Timberlands, but are cheaper.

9 Of My Favorite Boots That Look Like Timberlands But Are Cheaper
Ever Boots Tank
Features:
- 2mm Nubuck Leather Upper
- Rubber Sole
- Measuring 7 inches from the arch
- Welt Construction
- Removable insole
- Steel Shank Support
If you are looking for a good work boot that looks and even performs much like Timberlands you need to check out Ever Boot’s Tank.
Similar to the classic Timberland is it made with Nubuck leather and a rubber sole.
It is also equipped with a removable insole making it easier to dry after a day in the mud. Additionally, it gives you the option to change out the insoles for one of your favorites.
Lastly, it measures 7 inches from the arch giving you that additional protection for your toes, and your legs as well.
One of the most interesting features of the Tank is that it is made with Goodyear welt construction.
What is a Goodyear welt and why is that important?
Basically, a Goodyear welt is where the outsole is stitched to the insole and the upper.
What that means for you is that as long as you keep the uppers in good shape the Tank can be resoled as often as needed. In other words, as long as you take good care of the boot, it has the potential to last many years to come.
An additional benefit to a good year welt is that they tend to be more water-resistant. No, the construction doesn’t mean you can go trudging around in a lake, but a Goodyear welt design makes it much more difficult for water to enter.
I feel like this Goodyear welt is a superior feature in a lower price point boot.
Lastly, the tank is covered by EverBoots a 3 month guarantee. Personally, I love companies that promise to stand behind their products.
(Important note: The EverBoot Tank tend to run a 1/2 bigger than Timberlands. Please keep this in mind when placing your order.)

Lugz Empire Boots
Features:
- 100% Perma Hide
- Rubber Sole
- Measuring 7. 5 inches from the arch
- Slip Resistant Outsole
- Water-Resistant Upper
(The stats above are based on the men’s boot, but they are also available in women’s found here.)
Next on our list is the Lugz Empire boot.
The Lugz Empire is made with 100% Perma Hide with a rubber sole giving it that Timberland Classic Look. It also features a slip-resistant outsole and a water-resistant upper.
The question you might be wondering at this point is what is Permahide and how does it compare with Timberlands?
The Timberland Classic is made with nubuck leather. Nubuck is basically leather that has been sanded down to give it that velvet look and feel. Without any additional products, by itself it is water-resistant. Yes, it is leather and it will last a long time.
On the other end of the spectrum, we have Permahide. Permahide is imitation leather. It is important to note that it isn’t going to offer you the same quality as a nubuck leather boot, but many times it is used in order to keep the price down.
Does this boot have the same durability as the Timberland Classic? Probably not. However, it does have that classic look.
With that being, said if you are just trying to make a fashion statement, but you don’t want to spend the big bucks on the classic this might be a great alternative.
Rockrooster
Features:
- Made with Nubuck Leather
- Rubber Sole
- Electrical Hazard
- Goodyear Welt Construction
- Slip-Resistant
Let’s take a closer look at the Rockrooster Underwood Boot to see how it compares with the Timberland Classic.
This boot is made with 100% nubuck leather which by itself isn’t waterproof, but it is more water-resistant.
The next feature we want to highlight is the rubber outsole. It is slip-resistant making it the perfect fit when working in a slippery environment.
I would also like to highlight its construction. This boot features a Goodyear welt construction. Earlier in this post, we highlighted the superiority of a Goodyear welt. With that being said, you know that you have a good quality boot for a lesser price.
Lastly, these boots have Electrical Hazard protection. What exactly does that mean? It means that you will be protected from any incidental contact with electrical circuits up to 18,000 volts.
So what do you get with the Rockrooster Underwood boots?
Not only do you get that classic look, but you get a shoe that is designed to get the job done even under the toughest situations.

Caterpillar Outline Boots
Features:
- 100% Full Grain Leather
- Rubber Sole
- Measuring 6 inches from the arch
- Removable insole
- Slip Resistant
- Electrical Hazard
- Cement Construction
- Steel Toe
- Imported
Another Timberland Look A Like designed to get the job done at a lower price point is the Caterpillar Outline Steel Toe.
This boot is made with 100% full-grain leather. Full-grain leather means quality and durability. There is no doubt that this boot was built to last.
It is equipped with a slip-resistant rubber sole. The method to attach the sole is a cemented approach.
Earlier in this post, we highlighted the superiority of a good year welt. However, it is interesting to note that this boot uses a cemented approach.
Does that mean it is a lesser quality boot?
Not necessarily. Sure there are many benefits to a Goodyear welt as we mentioned earlier, the one drawback to this type of construction is that the boots tend to be stiffer and require a little more time to break-in. However, a cemented sole while it can’t be resoled, will be more flexible and will require less break-in time.
Lastly, it is equipped with a steel toe.
No, this boot wasn’t just built to make a fashion statement, it was built to get wet, get dirty, and most importantly get the job done.
A great alternative to Timberlands for those looking for a cheaper alternative.
